Installation Instructions on Windows 95, 98 & NT Machines

Before you install Betahat you may need to install several files that allow your older system to run Betahat and other of the newer programs.

Windows 95

DCOM95 is freely available from Microsoft.  Due to licensing we cannot provide this on CD or on our web site.  If you do not install DCOM95 you may still be able to run parts of Betahat, while other parts will give you errors.

Download and run SHFolder.

MDAC_TYP 2.5 or newer is required by the Windows Installer.  If you do not have version 2.5 or newer you will get a warning when you try to install Betahat.  If you get that warning then download and run MDAC_TYP 2.5.

Windows 98

Download and run SHFolder.

MDAC_TYP 2.5 or newer is required by the Windows Installer, and MDAC_TYP 2.5 and  MDAC_TYP 2.7 or newer is required to read in Excel, CSV, Access etc files.  Look for the link that says "MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh".  Download and run the appropriate files.

Windows NT 4, Service Pack 3 or later

Download and run SHFolder.

MDAC_TYP 2.5 or newer is required by the Windows Installer, and MDAC_TYP 2.5 and MDAC_TYP 2.7 or newer is required to read in Excel, CSV, Access etc files.  Look for the link that says "MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh".  Download and run the appropriate files.
